GuardTower is a leading consumer cybersecurity company founded in 1989 with an award winning product and millions of loyal customers. They needed a brand refresh and wanted to increase their userbase among younger demographics without alienating their existing customers. Additionally, they wanted to raise awareness about the importance of cybersecurity in general through marketing campaigns and by producing educational content.

The "GT" Logomark was designed as a flexible mark for use in full color or black and white throughout the brand. I referenced the rook (tower) piece from chess as well as a shield when designing the logo.

Cybersecurity is a big issue that effects everybody, so I set out to highlight that GuardTower offers a comprehensive, easy to use product meant for all people and all of their devices.

To stand apart from competitors, I chose to balance the brand's characteristic strength and seriousness with a friendlier and more inviting illustration designed to communicate freedom from the anxiety of cyber threats.

Given how skeptical users are online, I relied heavily on social proof to earn trust. GuardTower has received a great deal of positive press and many accolades over the years from major institutions that have reviewed their product. It was important to draw attention to this throughout the design.
